Hello! This page serves as a home for all general information and artwork relating to my OC worldbuilding project, Spiritux. It began back in 2018 (although I didn't know it just yet) when I made Spectre, and over the years more characters were created or brought in after the fact, all the while developing their species and the world they inhabit.

LEOTA

Species: Flametail Spiritux

Pronouns: She/her

The self-declared "leader" of the group (and really any group she's in), Leota is an intelligent, headstrong, and fiercly independent person. She has a quick temper, hates any type of distraction or sidetracking, and is incredibly reluctant to listen to anyone's opinion besides her own. Unless they're a fellow Flametail, that is, and even then she tends to doubt them.

SPOOKY

Species: Bonetail Spiritux

Pronouns: He/him

A close friend of Spectre's since the two of them were young, Spooky knows that others see him as stupid, naive, and an airhead (unfortunately how a lot of others view his species) and goes out of his way to try to prove them wrong. He's quick, agile, and loves exploring his world and others.

SALEM

Species: Voidstalker/Smoketail Hybrid

Pronouns: They/them

Friends with Spectre, relatively withdrawn due to their hybrid status, which they keep hidden for the safety of them and their family. Their Voidstalker parent instilled in them a large interest in their world's history, teaching them and their siblings about their unique heritage. Despite their withdrawn nature, they are an extrovert.

BONES

Species: Unknown (Portal Guardian)

Pronouns: He/him

On the surface, he is identical to a Poltergator, which makes most Spirituxes afraid of him upon first meeting him, due to just how massive he is compared to even the largest Smoketail. Normally, he can be found resting in front of his Portal, or swimming nearby.

Like all Guardians, he is dedicated to his work. Despite his imposing appearance, he is generally calm and would never hurt anyone unless they give him reason to.

BLUR

Species: Undead Cross Fox

Pronouns: He/him

Resurrected and brought into this world relatively recently, Blur lives in the Petrified Forest along with Rune. He isn't known for being very social or cheerful, with most who speak of him describing him as very rude and blunt.

He serves as one of the two undead animals who act as gatekeepers between the Smoketails and Bonetails (as well as the Flametails).

RUNE

Species: Undead Domestic Cat

Pronouns: He/they

The second undead animal residing in the Petrified Forest who serves as a gatekeeper between the two territories. Out of the two of them, Rune is much more timid, quiet, and jumpier than Blur, which isn't that much of a hindrance to his job, considering the fact that he has an ability to restrain others within a circle of runes. He and Blur get along as much as they really need to, Rune is still somewhat scared of him after all the time they've spent together.

HALLOWE

Species: Undead Unidentified Dromaeosaurid

Pronouns: They/it

The first resurrected animal brought in from another world, Hallowe was brought in to serve as a mediator between the three Spiritux species in a time where they lived much closer to one another, and the divides between them weren't as clear.

They mainly stay within Smoketail territory, as its bright coloration helps it stay hidden. Not many encounter it nowadays, but the stories and their repuation have stayed relevant.

OCTUBRE

Species: Undead Flying Fox

Pronouns: She/he

The most recent resurrected animal, he serves the role of a messenger between the three Spiritux species (and anyone else who requests her services). She is known to most as cheery and helpful, a perfect match for his job, and has many friends throughout the world he has found herself in. Most of the time, her route takes her between the Bonetails and the Flametails, who have had the worst relations as of late.

MAIN SPECIES

Throughout this page, I've made multiple mentions to things like Spirituxes, Voidstalkers, and Poltergators. By now, without any context, you're probably wondering what I'm talking about. As mentioned in the introduction, there are various original species that inhabit this alien world. As of now, I only have information regarding five of them, but plan to create more to fill in their ecosystems later on. Detailed information about each species can be found here.

SPIRITUXES

Spirituxes are the current dominant species of their world, and easily the most populous and widespread. They comprise one genus and three closely-related species:

BONETAILS

Laruafelis osseum

The smallest of the three subspecies, with a skull for a face instead of fur. They also have two-ringed eyes, with a white pupil and colored irises, and the standard black sclera.

Familial connections are very important to Bonetails, living together in a singular large family cave. When Bonetails die, their skulls are kept with their families, as it is believed among them that the skulls of the deceased carry their souls with them.

They live in large groups, with a council in charge of decision-making for the whole. The council has one member of each family in it. Bonetails are somewhat aggressive and very competitive and confident in their abilities, but tend to be somewhat pacifistic.

SMOKETAILS

Laruafelis fumigans

The largest and most robustly-built of the three subspecies, but also the most brightly-colored. Their region is full of waterways that they hold in very high regard, being incredibly defensive over them.

Smoketails live in medium-sized groups, usually made up of a few families each. These groups tend to have one leader that serves as a representative for larger meetings which are held on a large island in the middle of their territory.

They tend to be the most friendly of the three subspecies and the most welcoming, but are also the strongest and will not hesitate to defend themselves if necessary. Historically speaking, hey are not ones to cause conflicts.

FLAMETAILS

Laruafelis ignis

A medium sized subspecies, the Flametails are duller in color compared to other Spirituxes, but make up for it with almost neon flames. They are very territorial and aggressive towards others, viewing themselves as superior to everybody else. Flametails are the only current group to build their homes rather than living in natural structures or carving out homes for themselves.

They are also unique for not having a very strong belief in any natural thing. Some Flametails will tell stories that have been passed down through generations of times when fire held importance.

They have a very structured government compared to other species'.

GENERAL ANATOMY

(This applies to ALL species, not just ones in the Spirituxes' genus)

VOIDSTALKERS

Versipellis obscurum

One of the two bipedal species on the mainland and the ancestor to the Spiritux genus, Voidstalkers are unique for two reasons. One, they are the only species with opposable thumbs, and two, they are capable of shapeshifting, which is reliant on visual memory.

They have long prehensile tails and spurs on their ankles and wrists that they use for defense. Voidstalkers are also very good at mimicking. If they spend enough time around another group or species, they will subconsciously adapt traits from that species.

They had an advanced civilization hundreds of years ago, but the Flametails took that as a threat to their existence and destroyed their civilization. However, some survived the attacks, so the species lives on. They live mostly in hiding if they haven't already taken portals to leave their homeworld. The other species do not know what happened to the Voidstalkers, believing that they simply vanished.

POLTERGATORS

Cryptosuchus magna

By far the largest species in the world, Poltergators resemble a cross between a crocodilian and a theropod dinosaur. While the tallest Spiritux stands at about 2 feet tall, Poltergators regularly reach 7 or 8 feet tall.

They live in Smoketail territory, being semi-aquatic. They are not bioluminescent like Smoketails, their closest living relatives being the Voidstalkers. Poltergators are solitary, rarely being seen with others of their kind.

They do not speak or make much noise, and despite their size they move quietly. Poltergator horns can come in any shape and size.
